The G.A.A. was formed in 1884.
Castlegar's first Official Hurling Match, was in 1888. (We're rebuilding the History Page).
Today, the Club has a large Population catchment area, and attracts new Hurling and Camogie talent from the local National Schools of Menlo, Brierhill, Castlegar, and Merlin as well as others.
As Joe Connolly puts it eloquently in this Podcast of 2018, Castlegar is a Dynamic Club - Innovators. He also outlines some of the changes over the Years, including the Complex (finshed in 1980) and the Indoor Sports Arena which will be finished soon.
Joe, is the current Irish Culture/ Language Officer, and our other Facilities are being upgraded as restrictions permit.
